General Educational Facilities
o cultivate and enable the youth of India while providing the children around Dervan opportunities to develop to their full potential. The Trust has initiated several educational facilities at Dervan.
The first class initiated in 1997 with the Primary School, which has now reached 9th standard. The school currently has over 600 students enrolled. The curriculum will be extended to provide students quality education up to graduation level. The TRUST’s vision is to provide a well rounded education at a reasonable cost to as many students possible, in the Konkan region, which is one of the most backward areas of the state. Three schools have been established to enable the children in pursuit of their dreams.

Although academic achievement is essential to the education process found within the schools, the children are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities that will help better shape each as a productive asset to society. These activities provided under the guidance of expert trainers include, but are not limited to, the following:

*Apart from the time and energy lost in the journey to and from the facility, some of the families are not in a position to bear the recurring costs of such transportation. In order to take care of such children, the TRUST has established two separate Hostels for Boys & Girls, on Campus, to provide need-based housing assistance to students, at a reasonable cost, in its commitment to EDUCATION.

Other activities at the Educational campus aimed at Development of Students and Teachers
(a) Training workshops’ for Teachers and students:
Workshops are arranged for the students in Ratnagiri District appearing for Primary and Secondary School Scholarship Examinations, in which Model Question Papers on all subjects prepared by experts in the state are supplied to the students and solutions thereto are given by the visiting faculty / educational experts in the field from reputed schools from Mumbai & Pune. Sets of model question papers, expected question papers and other relevant stationery is given to the students free, along with refreshments and meals during such camps. These efforts have reflected in the results, as increasing number of students from the District are since then, securing ranks in the scholarship examinations every year.
Such workshops are also being organized for the Primary & Secondary School teachers to enable them to acquire better skills to guide the students appearing for scholarship examinations. Participating teachers are given the relevant sets of Question Banks and other necessary facilities free of cost.
(b) Training workshops for Teachers and students:
Similar workshops are being arranged for students appearing for SSC examination from Dervan and nearby villages, particularly the students who need assistance in English & Mathematics.
Teachers from renowned schools in the State are invited for the workshops and as a result there has been considerable improvement in SSC results in the area. The students are supplied sets of model question papers. The participants are provided with accommodation, meals, refreshments and the entire stationery / books etc. free of cost.
c) Assistance to Meritorious students:
Meritorious students at various levels are given scholarships / financial assistance and particularly students from the lower income strata are given preference for such awards.
Competitions of various types such as debates / vocal and instrumental Music / Recitation (Memory test) / Handwriting / Essay writing etc. are arranged for the students, in which good number of students from the District participate every year. Successful participants are given cash prizes / Certificates / memento along with usual hospitalities.
Paucity of facilities of Vocational courses has been a major handicap for employment / self-employment opportunities for the youth particularly in the backward districts of Konkan Region (Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Raigad). In order to enable the students to acquire professional skills and to a certain extent, address the problem of unemployment in the Region, the TRUST decided to offer Vocational Courses so that the local students can decide their future course in life after completion of education at the schools / colleges. At present the vocational courses like Post graduate diploma in Laboratory Technology and nursing are offered at the Trust’s complex at Dervan.
Financial & other Assistance provided to various Educational Institutes
The TRUST has given liberal financial and other assistance apart from Dervan Village to the Nurseries, Aanganwadis, Primary / Secondary / Higher Secondary Schools and other institutes from the nearby villages for the following purposes: Construction of new School Buildings / Classrooms / Laboratories / Sanitation facilities Etc. / Renovation and repairs of school buildings / Educational instruments / Equipment necessary for teaching Science and other subjects / Uniforms & Text books to the students / Notebooks and other stationery to students / Computer education facilities in schools.
