A straightforward and great personage like Shree Baba Maharaj, who always remained in transcendence, was also envied by some people. Some of his office staff sent a signed written complaint to a senior officer stating that “Shree Sahasrabuddhe, comes late in the office, does not pay attention to the office work, acts like a mad person and writes only Ramnaam (the name of Lord Rama) on a piece of paper”. They further requested the senior officer to take necessary action against him. Similar complaints were sent four to five times to the senior officer.
Further it so happened that one day, due to heavy rain in Mumbai, the local trains stopped operating. Nobody dared to come out of the house that day. Inspite of the heavy rain, Shree Baba Maharaj reached the office in time. He was completely wet. He put his wet clothes on the neighbouring chair to dry and started doing his office work. Besides Shree Baba Maharaj and two peon’s nobody else reported to the office. Coincidently the senior officer came for his inspection on the same day.
The entire office looked empty. The officer enquired with the peons, and came to know that only Shree Sahasrabuddhe Saheb was present on duty. When the officer went to Shree Baba Maharaj’s office, he first saw the wet clothes put on the chair for drying and later saw the number of papers kept separately after perusal, by Shree Baba Maharaj, since morning. The British officer was very much surprised and asked Shree Baba Maharaj, who was engrossed in his work, “How did you manage to come to the office in such heavy rain?” Shree Baba Maharaj answered calmly, “I came to the office on horseback. Hence heavy rain did not affect me. When I receive salary from the Govt., it is my duty to come to the office in time and do the work properly. Even God loves the person who is loyal to one’s duties. Duty observance is the real worship of God”. The British officer was very much impressed by this reply.
After this incident, the same British officer again personally checked and got confirmation about the punctuality of Shree Baba Maharaj on three to four different occasions.
The officer was fully convinced of the punctuality that Shree Baba Maharaj maintained. So before leaving office, he wrote excellent remarks in respectful words about Shree Baba Maharaj stating, “Nobody else was more punctual than Shree Sahasrabuddhe in this office. Henceforth no action should be taken for any complaints registered against him”
Further, the same British Officer, decided to inspect the quality of work carried out by Shree Baba Maharaj. One morning at 10.30 A.M., the officer came to him and said “You have completed the work of three buildings. Let me inspect those building plans.” At that time, Shree Baba Maharaj took a plain paper and wrote all the detailed measurements of the first building, including those of windows, doors, etc. When the officer inspected and took the actual measurements of the first building including that of doors, windows etc., he was simply astonished to find these actual measurements matching precisely, with the measurements written on the paper by Shree Baba Maharaj. Then he asked for the measurements of the second and third buildings. Shree Baba Maharaj repeated the same process. He took a plain paper and wrote down the detailed measurements of the buildings directly from his memory. Inspections of the building measurements matched precisely to those written by Shree Baba Maharaj.
The British officer was just marvelled at this incredible memory power and the mysterious working system of Shree Baba Maharaj. Not only that, the British officer called all the staff, who had earlier complained against Shree Baba Maharaj and rebuked them as well as intimidated them, that in future anybody who troubles Shree Baba Maharaj would not be pardoned at all. After this incident, nobody in the office dared to trouble Shree Baba Maharaj.
